This is the Portrait of Sang-gyeong Han, who was the minister of early Chosun.
His family origin is Cheongju and ho is Shinjae
He was a grandson of Hobusangseo Gongeui and a son of Panhudeokbusa Su.
His poet's pen name was Mungan. He passed the higher civil service examination in 1382 (8th year of Uwang period) and became the third meritoriousretainer at the founding of a dynasty when Chosun was built. He worked as a Doseungji at Jungchuwon and as a provincial governor of Gyeonggijwado.
And later, he could take the position of Ijopanseo and Seowonbuwongun in the period of the third king Taejong.
And he became Ueuijeong, then Yeongeuijeong at last. It has been said that he wrote a good hand.
This portrait is drawn on the silk. And in this picture, he is sitting on a settee and wearing Samo(official hat) which is lowered a little, Damhongpo (official gown) with Sabgeumdae (official belt) with bare hands. And this form was the popular fashion at that moment. This piece was repainted in the 17the century, but it still becoming the masterpiece portrait of the 15th century. It was enshrine in his shrine, and currently, it is at the national museum of Korea.
