The father of Gojong, Yi, Haeung(1820∼1898) ennobled as Heungsungun in 1843 (9th year of Hunjong).

Chuljong was dead without a successor, so his mother, Shinjung wanghu (queen) made his second son to be the successor as Gojong (the 26th king of Josun) and he became the father of the king (daewongun) and participated in administration instead of the king.

However his 10 years of regency ended by Myungsung wanghu (queen), his daughter-in-law, in 1873 (10th year of Gojong) and he took the reign of the nation for a while in Imo gunran (army rebellion) though, he kidnapped and became a hostage for 4 years in Tenjin by the Qing (China).

His grave (name: Heung won; the 48th Kyunggi-do monument) located in Moran park, Chasanri, Namyangju-city and moved from Gongdukri, Goyang-gun in 1898 and Daedukri, Paju-gun in 1906.

Public transportation
Taking the bus number of 9202/30/330-1/765/9205 in front of Chungryangri station off at Masuk (1 hour) and walk for 20 minutes. . If you prefer a train, use “Kyungchunsun” (Seoul-Choonchun line) and off at Masuk station which will take 25 minutes and 20 extra minutes by walk. Masuk station: 031-593-7788
Automobile
From Chungryangri station, taking Mangwoori gogae (hill) and go straight till Donong samgeori, where take left turn to the direction for Masuk and go straight passing by Namyangju City Hall, March Tunnel, Masuk sageori and 0.1km more, then take right turn and go straight 1.5 km more then you will find “Whado Jungsujang (water purification plant)” where you will take the road to Northeast and drive about 300m
