The Mud Wall in Suseok-Ri

The Mud Wall in Suseok-Ri

Located at the height of 82.3m of the hill called “Tomijae” near by Han river, in Susuk-dong, Namyangju-city and defined as the 94th Kyunggi-do monument.

There are Acha-san on its west side, Yisung-san and Namhan-san on its south side, Chunma-san on its east side and Surak-san on its north side and Mieum naru (ferry) in front of the the village.

Those views make us to guess that this rampart is a vitally and strategically important place.

It looks like a half moon and the 140.5m round, made by hardened and piled muds and/or whittled a high mud pole (height: 4-5m) Geographically it tells this place was a very important military place around Han river in the Three Nations era and doing communicating function using signal fire in Josun era.
