Natural Recreation Forest at Mountain Chungryeong

Natural Recreation Forest at Mountain Chungryeong

Mountain Chungryeong is a 879-meter-high mountain that stretched from Namyangju City to Gapyeong County.

It offers a fresh breath taking wonderful landscape, with dense forests and beautiful valleys. There is a legend that says Taejo Seong-Gye LEE, the founder of Joseon dynasty, went hunting in the mountain but could not capture or kill a single animal. After performing a ritual on the top of the mountain he caught a wild boar.

The Natural Recreation Forest at Mt. Chungryeong, which can be found in Oebang-Ni, Sudong-Myeon, Namyangju City, opened on July 10, 1995 and is under the direct management by Gyeonggi-Do.

The forest is 772 hectares wide where 50-year-old nut pines are well cultivated. The park also has forestry fields, sports facilities, pools, camping grounds, nature observation areas, and is a great place for both relaxing family vacations or a mountain hike. Phone reservations are suggested if you want to use facilities of cabins and etc., during high-demand seasons or weekends.
